BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom built for teaching: whiteboard, shared notes, polls, breakout rooms, recordings, all inside your learning platform. We've run it for a London language school and a multi-campus college since the pandemic, and it's still their daily classroom.

Why not just use Zoom?
You can, and for meetings you probably should. But Zoom is built for meetings, not lessons. BigBlueButton gives teachers a whiteboard, slide annotation, polls, breakout rooms and shared notes designed for teaching, and it plugs into the learning platform so attendance, recordings and materials stay with the course. There are no per-host licences, so a school with fifty teachers pays for servers, not seats.
Proven in daily use
In 2020 two London institutions needed to move teaching online within days. We deployed BigBlueButton for both, integrated it with their platforms, and tuned the servers for their timetables. One is a British Council accredited English language school; the other is a college with multiple locations. Both have kept using it since, because it works.
